Unlike some of the bigger software development companies out there, we endeavor to operate with as little bureaucracy as we can get away with.    So, we hire developers who not only are talented at building custom applications, but also are skilled at effectively communicating directly with our clients.  This eliminates cost for our clients, and it also eliminates the risk of miscommunication through multiple parties.  We follow simple and useful processes that ensure accountability, results and the mitigation or risk in projects.  And we employ the latest tools for time-tracking, requirements tracking and collaborating.  Leveraging the best of breed tools and technologies, with the ‘cream of the crop’ technically skilled people gives us the confidence to make promises to clients that we know we can keep.

We recently went through the routine exercise of drafting case studies of our latest projects, and  were delighted to hear what our clients value about us.  One client told us they picked us because we asked the hardest questions during the request-for-proposal (rfp) stage.  We worried a little that we came across as overly concerned with details and that we had suggested too many things that they had not considered, and maybe did not care about.  Fortunately the client recognized there were many things they had not thought about through the RFP Q&A and that rather than blindly following their specification to the ‘T’, 2Paths would analyze their requirements carefully, ask the right questions, and make sure nothing got missed.  Another big benefit identified by our clients is that we speak business to the business-owners, and  ‘techno babble to propellerheads’, in other words, we spare the business people the boring, sometimes confusing technical terms while still getting the necessary points across.  People also told us they really valued our transparent processes and communication, and the ease of the tools employed to track the projects.

It’s true, something we’re proud to say is that we carefully listen to our prospects at the beginning, and determine whether our skills are well suited to address their business pain-points.  Our client’s success is materially important to us, since we rely on a glowing reference at the conclusion of each and every successful project.  And if we’re not the right fit for a problem we hear about, we gladly refer out to the most qualified person to deal with it in our broad network of industry professionals.

One thing that we are really proud of is our corporate culture.  It is not a ‘sweatshop’ here – we’re truly proud of our working environment, and our balance between work and play.   We provide the best coffee money can buy, organic fruits and veggies, and yoga and beer-breaks when needed, and most importantly the creative freedom to try new technologies and approaches to creating software.  Our philosophy is to create an environment where our staff feel safe to make mistakes, and the upside of the risk of a potential mistake is innovation, which can be a true benefit to our client.   And lastly, we strongly believe that a team that plays together, stays together, which is why we make sure to organize regular fun outings for the team, which usually involve copious amounts of fresh air and elevated heart rates, activities like skiing, curling, and white-water rafting keep our business bonds friendly.

So in summary, using technology, process and critical thinking to create innovative software is what we are all about. We really are the technical experts at taking what looks to be complex or large-scale problems and distilling them down. We fondly remember Albert Einstein, who said ‘Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.’  And that is exactly what we strive to do.
